Spunberg is Feeling Lost

“I am not a madman,” says the murderer in Poe’s The Tell-Tale Heart, and yet he seems to be quite delusional. Such is me as I contemplate the merits of LOST against Best Drama favorite Mad Men. No, I am not a Mad Man as of yet, but I am completely, utterly, inordinately, lost in LOST.

This past season of LOST may have been the most dynamic yet, with time travel, cascades of mouthwatering revelations and impenetrable suspense. By now we have gotten to know our core group of characters, through flashbacks and plot development. Two seasons ago, the masterful architects of the show turned to flash forwards, a novel approach which transformed the nation into wannabe oracles and soothsayers.

LOST has a large, devoted following of fans. The question, as far as the Emmys are concerned, is how many of these fans inhabit those posh voting booths known commonly as Hollywood living rooms. Mad Men has captured the hearts of key voters in seasons past, leaving LOST to stew ungracefully among “the Others.” Perhaps this is the year when LOST emerges from the Lost and Found bucket to be worn prominently again!

I am not a madman. Go LOST!
